Little Big Adventure AGM 2011

Parents, children, leaders, helpers and Exec members in 1st Bookham Scout group had a fabulous day at their AGM and Little Big Adventure on Saturday 17th September at the Bookham Scouting Centre and Eastwick school field. We had about 180 people joining in on a lovely sunny afternoon with fun activities such as the mobile Climbing Wall - run by SOLD, a varied assault course built by the Scout leaders, wet sponge-throwing at willing captives in the stocks, slide-the-dixie, human fruit machine, marshmallow cooking, welly-throwing, football target and rocket-making.
Hutchison and Greville Scouts participated in the Tent Challenge by skillfully putting up an Icelandic Tent for a new Scout Trophy (made by Rick), awarded by Benita to Greville team. Adults and children flexed their muscles to enjoy a few goes of "Tug of War" - the Dads were so strong they broke the rope!!! The Explorer Scouts bbq-ed the tasty sausages and burgers for all.
The AGM was short and relaxed, assisted by the serving of wine for the adults! Thank you to Nigel Salmon for all his work on the report and Accounts. A team of adult helpers supervised the children playing Rounders on the school field during the AGM. Benita awarded appointment and years of service certificates to leaders and Richard Shortman kindly presented Chris Sheppard with his well-earned Bar to the Silver Acorn award.
We have recruited a few new helpers to join our excellent team of leaders, assistant leaders, helpers and Exec members. It was a grand celebration of all that is good about Scouting - people, activities, resources and our great Bookham Scout Centre. Thanks to all everyone involved for their help and enthusiasm.
