Greville Summer Camp 2007

The recent summer camp, was in a field near Colchester. It was in a lovely farm owned by a Mrs Turtle. The field was alongside of the farmhouse and a field full of some horses. The field was for free as long as we collected some wood and filled up a truck.

We specifically went there because of the 21st world jamboree. We had got a special day pass for the troop to visit. The expierience was amazing. The site was huge and full of foreign and interesting people. There were tents for every single country that was involved. Almost every country in the world participated.  It was also the hundredth year of scouting, on the anniversary we all had a sunrise event that was held all over the world at the same time. That evening we had a scouting cake with 100 candles, made by Chris' Mum and sister. Thank you to them.

The activities were organised by all the leaders and they also took part. One day we all went to a sports centre and were split in half, one half went rock climbing whilst the others played badminton. Then the groups swapped over. On the Thursday we went into the centre of Colchester and went shopping. Swimming was an essential because all of the scouts absolutely stank of smoke and burnt bacon.
