The Unit aims to further the Scouting or Guiding experiences of its members through a variety of adventurous activities, exposure to new cultural and real-life situations, and training and social events, by promoting both teamwork and independent development. In addition to the great friendship and fun that is enjoyed by unit members, many of the ‘soft skills’ learnt over the 4 years are becoming increasingly valuable for future educational and career opportunities.

The units elects a committee of 8 of its members every year who, under the guidance of the many leaders and helpers, take responsibility for the organisation of the weekly programme, one-off activities and the 4 camps, which are held all around the UK and sometimes even abroad. The Unit is based in Bookham and meet every Thursday, usually between 8pm and 10pm.

Many of the unit members join from local Scout and Guide troops, but young people aged 14-18 from outside these movements are also more than welcome to join.
