On Saturday 16 July 2011, Jack Moth, Ross Barton, Callum Nicholls, George Maltby and Matthew Bird from of 1st Bookham Oak Cub Pack took part in the ShelterBox London Scavenger Hunt. They were team 'Bookhams Bravest'.ShelterBox is an international disaster relief charity. One box supplies a family with a custom designed disaster relief tent and lifesaving equipment to use while they are displaced or homeless.
Approximately 600 participants from all over the UK met at the Westminster City School. The hunt began at 11am and teams (maximum of 5) were given until 3pm to complete a series of activities. The hunt led us to Buckingham Palace, St James Park, Green Park, Trafalgar Square, House of Parliament, Horse Guards Parade and many other well know sights.
Despite the torrential rain the cubs completed riddles and anagrams, found clues, facts about well known London landmarks and took part in team games around the city of Westminster all the while carrying two ShelterBox balloons. (Scouts have to carry a ShelterBox with them throughtout the day! )
The cubs missed out on any prizes but showed a good team spirit and a great sense of humour throughout the long, wet day - well done to Bookhams Bravest!
