Scouting Centre Appeal

With the end of the lease on The Old Scout Hut, now completed, coupled with the need for a new and modern image for Scouting, it was a long time ago that 1st and 3rd Bookham Scouts realised they needed to have a modern base to launch their Scouting activities from.

It has taken more than 10 years to bring the ideas of a new Scouting Centre to the closing stages, land was sourced from the Council, and commitment from many funding sources have bought the project nearly to a finish.

Scouting puts back a lot into the local community whilst developing youngsters for their role in adult life. So this is a major investment for the future of both our youngsters and the community they will serve.

So where are we?

  • All plans have been agreed and we are ready to build
  • The Old Scout Hut's land has been sold and we will have to move out SOON
  • In total we have raised over £235,000 already from a share in the sale of the existing land, grants, fund raising and donations.

But...

New Grant: Bookam Scouts has just been awarded a grant of £20,000 from the Thomas Flack Trust Fund, which is adminstered by Mole Valley District Council. This fund is dedicated to supporting projects of general benefit to the inhabitants of Ashtead, Leatherhead, Fetcham and Bookham - see Mole Valley's website for more details.

SO WE NOW HAVE TO RAISE THE LAST £33,000 IN ORDER TO BUILD OUR NEW CENTRE

A team is busy approaching major organisations for support. We are embarking on our final round of fund raising activities - we need your help and support to achieve our final goal.

Please contact us if you would like to make a donation, call Geoff Tranter on 01372 454455 or send him an email on geoff1stbookhamscouts.org.uk.
